Israel Adesanya Odunayo Oluwafemi Temitayo, popularly known as Israel Adesanya; is a Nigerian-born New Zealand professional mixed martial artist, kickboxer, and former boxer with multiple championships in all three disciplines.
Adesanya is currently signed to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) as a mixed martial artist; where he is the current UFC Middleweight Champion. He is the #3 in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound ranking.
With a professional boxing record of 5 wins, a kickboxing record of 75 wins, and a mixed martial arts record of 23 wins; Israel Adesanya, called “The Last Stylebender,” is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in mixed martial arts.
Over the weekend, the Lagos-born kickboxer successfully defended his crown for the fifth time; with a dominant five-round unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 50-45) win over Jared Cannonier, retaining the belt in New Zealand. With an aggressive second round and an equal third round; Adesanya was able to nullify Cannonier’s attack with strikes in the fifth round, turning the challenger into an ineffective aggressor.
