The 2017 NYFW has been one with impressive show concepts and Ralph Lauren’s Tuesday show was no different. From Rihanna’s X games concept to Alexander Wang’s “Wang Fest” street setting, and now Ralph Lauren’s formula 1 garage setting, designers continue to push the creative envelope with fashion and runway delivery.

Recently named Fashion Icon of The Decade by Daily Front Row’s FMAwards, Kendall Jenner wears a race car inspired look.

Set in his private garage, using his renowned exotic car collection as backdrop, Ralph Lauren’s Spring/Summer 2018 show started with the roar of a sports car engine, starring models such as Kendall Jenner, Maria Borges and Bella Hadid for the women’s collection with Presley Gerber one of the models for the men’s collection.

Inspired by the race car, the collection had patent leather and high-gloss silk as signature materials for the RL women’s collection. Infusing race car colors like black and silver, with pops of bright red, yellow and electric blue.

In the show notes, the designer said he saw his car collection as “moving art.” “My women’s collection for fall 2017 connects the elements of the speed, style and beauty of these handcrafted vehicles with the very modern, yet timeless spirit of the clothes,” he said.
