Life without love is a miserable one. Be it a platonic kind of love, or the romantic kind. Love is very important in our existence. It couldn’t be any clearer that we are in the season of love.
Valentine is here and we are not slowing down in our display of love and affection. A lot of gift packages like shoes, belts, dresses, perfumes, flowers, purses, cuff links etc are in circulation right now due to the valentine. You would have also noticed that there are edible items like cupcakes and chocolates in gift boxes, which reiterates that food is also love languages.
Food as a love language.
It is a popular saying that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. We don’t disagree, however, that statement is rather incomplete. There are lots of women who love food, fully fledged foodies, who need food to survive. Everyone (male and female alike) love to be treated to a special home cooked meal by their lover or special friend.
With Valentine just a couple of days away, you may have probably bought gifts for “bae” or you’re planning it to. Away from the norm, you can decide to do something a little different and thoughtful. Something like cooking for your lover at home and inviting them to dinner for two in the comfort and privacy of your home.
If you had not thought of this before till now, you are welcome. So how do you go about this?
Know how to cook:
This is the foundation of your entire exercise. You should know how to cook. It does not have to be a difficult meal. It can be rather simple, but very tasty and something your partner loves and enjoys. Remember, the point here is the warm thought and show of love, not necessarily your culinary prowess. However, you do not want to serve a raw meal or a poorly cooked one.
Know your partner:
Make sure you know what food your partner likes, and how he/she likes it. Also ensure they do not have allergies to your food choice(s). Know how much spice they can tolerate (spices like pepper, curry, garlic, ginger, turmeric etc) because, you do not want to go through the stress of cooking a meal that your partner cannot eat or will not enjoy.
Another point you want to consider before cooking for “bae” this Valentine, is to know whether they have any health conditions that might affect their food choices or their appetite.
Top notch cleanliness:
It is imperative to keep the environment clean before, during and after cooking. You do not want your partner getting sick after eating or catching something as a result of poor hygiene on your part. So maintain a very clean environment, during this valentine and even after. Properly wash any and everything you’d be using in cooking, from the food stuffs, to the utensils.
After you are done preparing the meal and cleaning up, set up a very beautiful and intimate dining setting for you and “bae”. Neatly lay out the dish(es) you have prepared, arrange some drinks to dine with, embellish the setting with some scented candles, table flowers, decorated napkins, etc. you want the create the perfect ambiance. A plus to this setting is to play very cool and quiet music. Music, food and romance go hand in hand
This is one of the most important part of your evening with your partner. Take a shower, put on some lovely and comfortable outfits (whatever your partner likes on you), and just get properly groomed for your partner. Don’t forget to wear some perfume too, not too much though.
Keep it simple and classy. Pour in all the love and affection you have for them. This way, you can have a guaranteed memorable culinary experience at Valentine.
