In honour of Black History Month, we are celebrating Nigerians putting their footprints in the sands of time all around the globe, and today we are celebrating Dr Dipo Awojide.

Senior Lecturer, Nottingham Business School, Department of Management.

Dipo Awojide addressed professionally as Ogbeni Dipo is a UK based Nigerian medical doctor, personal development coach and lecturer. He’s from the Yoruba tribe of South Western Nigeria. Dr. Dipo Awojide came into prominence through a series of twitter rants. Dipo was born and brought up in Nigeria, he relocated to the UK in a bid to “secure his future”

Dr Awojide obtained a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Abuja, a master’s degree in International Business with Distinction from Coventry University (UK) and a PhD in Strategic Management from Loughborough University (UK). He has worked in the Banking and Financial Services Sector and as a Researcher in the Human Resources Department at Brush Turbogenerators (UK). Currently, he is a Senior Lecturer in Strategy at Nottingham Business School. He has expertise in Strategic Management, Entrepreneurship, Personal and Professional Development, and Leadership and Employability.

He takes a genuine interest in the development of young people, teams, and organizations. He has mentored well over 1,000 young people from the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Italy, Poland, Spain, Russia, India, China, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, and other countries. He also delivers training to companies to optimize their performance.

He is a Member of the Africa Academy of Management, British Academy of Management, and an Associate Member of the Chartered Management Institute (UK). Dr Awojide is research-active and currently conducts research on Organizational Ambidexterity and Organizational Culture. He currently co-supervises a 3rd year PhD student researching on Innovation and Ambidexterity in the Chinese Banking Sector.

In December 2019, Dipo was unveiled as a Top 20 LinkedIn Voice (UK) for his personal and professional development articles, posts, and comments. Also, in June 2020, Dipo was nominated for consideration as a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader for the Class of 2021. 

He was once invited by the Kenyan High Commission and the Ministry of Education in Kenya to engage over 300 Kenyan Students on how to create a University Exit Strategy. He has also been invited by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group and the African Development Bank to make presentations about human capital development, job creation and youth development.

He is a Member of the Africa Academy of Management, British Academy of Management and an Associate Member of the Chartered Management Institute (UK). Dipo is also the founder of BTDT Hub, a Human Capital Development Company.
