The 69th Primetime Emmy Awards was hosted by Stephen Colbert on Sunday the 17th of September. The awards honored the best in U.S. prime time television programming from the period of June 1, 2016 until May 31, 2017, as chosen by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
As always, there were some big winners and big losers. Elisabeth Moss after nine nominations, won her first Emmy in the best actress in a drama series category for her role in The Handmaid’s Tale, oh and The Oprah Winfrey presented her the award so, more wins!
One trend at this year’s Emmys was the records broken, with The Handmaid’s Tale winning big (8 awards) and making Hulu the first streaming service to win a series trophy; to Danny Glover whose win for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series marked the first time a black man won that category since 1985, while his Best Director in a Comedy Series win made him the very first black man to win that category, ever.
