Last week, we discovered a secret about Honey. So this week, we are going to incorporate honey into our beauty routine.
According to the National Honey Board, honey begins as bloom nectar gathered by honey bees, which gets separated into basic sugars put away inside the honeycomb. The design of the honeycomb and steady fanning of the honey bees’ wings causes evaporation, making sweet liquid honey. The color of honey differs, some are lighter or darker than others, depending on the nectar collected by bees.
We have all had one or numerous experiences with honey; if you haven’t tasted it, at least you’ve heard songs and odes about it. Its savory taste is often used as a description for someone or something admired.
In appreciation of the hardworking bees and in the course of incorporating tender loving care in your beauty routine, here are three very simple honey recipes to try out;
Skin Exfoliant
Are you tired of buying OTC exfoliates? Do you constantly distrust exfoliating products as a result of strange ingredients or strange names? why not make your own exfoliant?
You can decide to be creative and add other ingredients that are great on your skin but the major ingredients for this recipe are Honey and Sugar.
Sugar acts as the major exfoliating ingredient which lifts dirt off your skin; cleansing your skin pores. Honey then acts as the moisturizer; leaving your skin supple, nourished, smooth and hydrated.
Mix these two in a bowl and apply to a body part, rubbing gently in circles for 1 to 3 minutes. Then rinse off and pat dry with a clean microfiber towel. You’d notice how smooth and fresh that area feels after doing this.
Acne Treatment and Face Toner
This DIY is not just great as a face toner but it is also effective in treating acne and breakouts.
The antibacterial properties of Honey, help it to fight against infection. This property is an anti-inflammatory and so, it soothes skin irritations. To make this recipe, you’d need Honey, Tumeric, and Yoghurt.
Combined together, these three make a powerful skin mask with intense antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and even skin lightening properties for a smooth, supple and clear skin.
The three ingredients should be mixed in a clean bowl/ container and a thin layer applied to the skin area. Leave on for 15 to 30 minutes and rinse out with clean water before patting dry.
Hair Mask
Your hair, can be shown tender love and care with the miraculous honey.
Hair mask from honey rejuvenates weak hair, infuses the hair with much-needed nutrients and leaves you with soft, shiny and detangled hair.
The mask consists of honey, avocado and coconut oil. You can replace the coconut oil with any other preferred hair oil for desired results. Make sure to mash or blend the avocado to a fine paste before adding the other two.
The mixture should be distributed evenly on clean freshly washed hair. Cover hair with a shower cap and leave for 30 minutes. Then rinse out to have a delicious looking hair in all its glory.
You do not have to be restricted to these honey recipes, try out your own DIY for whatever purpose and witness the wondrous benefits of honey.
