On Sunday the 23rd of September, Lagos and all social media platforms in Nigeria stood still for the most anticipated movie premiere of the year, Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons. Now, the anticipation wasn’t just because people wanted to see the movie but about the fashion that would go down at the red carpet premiere of the movie. AY Makun and his team came up with a brilliant promo for the movie premiere done in the most organic way, everyone wanted to be part of the Agbada Challenge.

So, who walked their merry way into our best dressed list? Now, some people didn’t wear agbadas but they completely slayed their looks e.g Ini Edo, Ufuoma McDermott and more brought the fire with their looks. Narrowing this list to just 15 best dressed looks was quite tough to do as everybody came correct for the movie premiere, except a few people (e.g our darling Kate Henshaw -who looked good but felt like she went straight from church or was attending a garden party, Uche Jombo and a few others who fell short).

Here are the best looks (men and women) from a night of high Nigerian fashion. Do let us know who your ultimate best-dressed is.

The Merry Men L-R: Falz, AY Makun, Jim Iyke, Ramsey Nouah all wearing Seyi Vodi with the exception of Jim Iyke whose outfit was by Ode Luxury Tailors

Big Brother Naija’s Anto Lecky took this agbada from Trybes by Nobs to another level with the polka dots shirt and hat
Ini Dima-Okojie may not have worn an agbada but she can’t be ignored in this green ensemble by Suzanne Emmanuel

Singer, Omawumi was also on point in an embroidered agbada from Michael Black Collection
Showstopper, Osas Ighodaro-Ajibade made it rain purple wearing TopeFnR
Model & Actor Bryan Okwara was epic in this symbolized agbada by Sly Monay
Cast member, Ireti Doyle looked elegant and poised wearing NHN Couture
The ChopLife Gang – L-R: Alexx Ekubo, Yomi Makun (Yomi Casual) and IK Ogbonna brought their best fashion foot forward all wearing Yomi Casual
It doesn’t get any cuter than Toyin Lawani’s son, Lord Maine in a beautiful agbada by Elegante Kids
Chioma Akpotha was banging in this beautiful dress from Skentele by Etti. Sadly, proper red carpet photos to do justice to her look weren’t yet available as at publication.
The color, the detailing and her accessories helped Big Brother Naija alum, Uriel to stand out in a sea of abgadas, dressed by House of Aso Oke
Wish she didn’t have the inner shorts on and the slit stopped where the shorts did. Nonetheless, Media personality, Doctor Idia sparkled in this dress by Zhalima Grazioni

Directed by AY Makun, Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons tells the story of Remi Martins (Falz the Bad Guy), Amaju Abioritsegbemi (AY Makun), Ayo Alesinloye (Ramsey Nouah) and Naz Okigbo (Jim Iyke), a group of Abuja’s most eligible and notorious bachelors. They have thriving businesses, palatial homes, fast cars and the attention of women to boot. They are known as THE MERRY MEN … but the ladies call them THE REAL YORUBA DEMONS.

The movie hits cinemas nationwide from the 28th of September, where will you be watching from?
