Lose weight without exercising? Really? How possible is that? Imagine eating whatever you like and not gaining an inch of extra fat? Sadly, that’s not the reality for most of us. Eventually, we all have to watch what we eat, not just for the weight but also for our health. Exercise is very important but sometimes, you just don’t feel like it or could be in a situation where you can’t exercise. So what do you do? Here are five proven ways to lose weight without dieting or exercising.

1. Go to bed earlier

The first line of action in losing weight is getting a good night’s rest. When you don’t get enough quality sleep, your body increases levels of the hunger hormone and decreases the satiety hormone resulting in unignorable hunger pangs.

2. Go black with your coffee

Taking your coffee black saves nearly 500 calories a week. More than 60 percent of those calories come from sugar. You’ll also be lowering your risk of insulin resistance, diabetes, and other metabolic disorders. Leaving the sugar packets on the shelf is one of the easy ways to cut down calories.

3. Hydrate… Drink more water

Most people inappropriately respond to thirst by eating. It’s no secret that you need to drink more water, but staying hydrated may really help make calorie control about more than the power of the wills. One study in adults found that drinking half a litre (17 ounces) of water about 30 minutes before meals reduced hunger and lessened calorie intake. It’s advisable you replace calorie- loaded drinks such as soda or juice with water.

4. Make food  portions smaller

Eating larger portions of food has been linked to increase in weight and obesity. Study shows that doubling the size of a dinner appetiser increased calorie intake by 30%. Serving yourself just a little less might help you eat significantly fewer calories. And you probably won’t even notice the difference.

5. Watch the packaged drinks

Drinking packaged fruit and vegetable juices, energy drinks, soda, and zero-cal soda not only prevents you from losing weight but also puts your health at risk. Though marketed as zero-calories, these drinks have other tastemakers and additives that make them worse than the normal ones. However, the amount of refined sugar in regular soda is too high, and drinking it too much can make you prone to diabetes.

A lot of simple lifestyle habits can help you lose weight. Some have nothing to do with conventional diet or exercise plans. You can use smaller plates, eat more slowly, drink water and avoid eating in front of the TV or computer.
