Cedric the Entertainer and Wilmer Valderrama announced the nominees for the 2024 Golden Globes, featuring new awards for stand-up comedy and box office achievement, live from the Beverly Hilton. The Golden Globes, now owned and produced by Dick Clark Productions (DCP) following the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s replacement, boasts a diverse group of 300 journalists from 76 countries as voters.

This year’s nominations highlight Greta Gerwig’s feminist phenomenon “Barbie,” tying for the second most-nominated movie in Golden Globe history. Unlike the Oscars, the Globes honour both film and television, distinguishing between genres and expanding each category to six nominees. Notably, new awards recognize box office achievements and stand-up comedy performances, acknowledging films like “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” and comedians Trevor Noah, Amy Schumer, and Ricky Gervais.

The 81st annual Golden Globe Awards, set for January 7, 2024, will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+, featuring showrunners Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner. The ceremony introduces changes, including the departure from NBC, now partnering with CBS and a shift in recognizing excellence in below-the-line crafts. The event marks a significant transition in its long-standing history.
