The 15th Africa Movie Academy Awards was held last night the 27th of October, 2019 at the Landmark Event Center, Victoria Island Lagos. The event kicked off at 5pm (WAT) with red carpet where nominees and guests posed for one or two pictures and to show us their ensembles for the night. The AMAA are presented annually to recognize excellence among professionals working in, or non-African professionals who have contributed to the African film industry as well as uniting the African continent through arts and culture.

Some of the winners from last night include Sola Sobowale for Best Actress in a Leading Role; Adesua Etomi for Best Actress in a Supporting Role; Kemi Adetiba’s “King of Boys” for NFVCB Award for Best Film and the list continues.

The award for best dressed stars at the AMAA 2019 go to the following:

  1. Dakore Egbuson Akande

Queening in a floor length pleated gown is Dakore, one Nigeria’s award winning actresses. The gown is from a boutique in Lagos called PM Luxury and she paired it dangling earrings and shuku for hairstyle. The sleeveless gown which showed off her toned arms and bare neck, cinched at the waist with a gold brooch to highlight her waist.

  1. Sola Sobowale

Popularly called “Toyin Tomato”, the ace actress picked up the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her role in the record breaking King of Boys in a pink jumpsuit by Luminee. We can all agree that pink is a perfect colour on Sola plus the glittery embroidery on the top took the outfit to a different level.

  1. Seyi Awolowo

BBNaija Pepper Dem alum fondly called Sucre Papito by his fans presented the award for Best Documentary last night in a blue suit by King Hakbal on black shirt and black pants. Serving real sugar!!

  1. Esther Agunbiade

Another BBNaija PepperDem housemate who totally killed it at the award show last night was Esther. She stood out in this figure hugging blue gown from Oobiuku with a thigh high slit and petal design. She paired it with silver ankle strap heels and bracelet.

  1. Lala Akindoju

Lala was one of the hosts of the night alongside Lorenzo Menakaya and Funnybone in a shimmery silver jumpsuit from Trish Couture. The barely accessorised save for a pearl earring. Simple yet bomb!

  1. Tuoyo

BBNaija’s Tuoyo attended the AMAA ceremony looking dapper in a  plum coloured suit on a white shirt and black pants from Rogue Clothing Co. We likey!

  1. Kimoprah

Miss Intercontinental Nigeria and BBNaija PepperDem alum Kimoprah stood tall in a black velvet dress with silk embellishments from LadyBeellionaire. She also had a pineapple shaped hairstyle along with silver ankle strap heels. Sis needs to give us the skin routine tho!

  1. Jemima Osunde

Jemima isn’t a stranger on Glazia’s best dressed list but this time she left us speechless with this royal purple floor sweeping gown by Julyet Peters, styled by Stylepundit. It’s also refreshing to see something very different from the usual thigh slit, one-shoulder, shimmery fabric, and ponytail. Absolutely gorgeous!!!

  1. Ihuoma Linda Ejiofor

The “Tinsel” Star stepped out to the AMAAs in a gorgeous pink high-low gown from The Purple Lady. She looked totally adorable in this pink number and sweetheart neckline and we certainly dig the layers on this gown. Peep that pair of purple heels to match the pink.

  1. Hilda Dokubo

One of Nigeria’s veteran actresses, filmmaker and director shone like a star in a glittery floor length dress. She looked elegant like the star that she is.
