The New Year has barely begun and 2020 looks promising with lots of movies to look forward to.

Tyler Perry’s first collaboration with Netflix has already dominated the early days of the year and we are still in January. From action packed thrillers to animated movies to CGI and classic spy movies, it seems as though all the production houses like Netflix, HBO, Sony, Lion gate, Amazon Prime, Disney, Marvel Studios, Warner Bros and all the others has us covered this year.

2019 was a very busy year for blockbusters, especially those from Disney studios. Will they still continue their winning streak? Time will most certainly tell.

A Fall From Grace

Genre: Crime, Thriller

This Netflix original created for the streaming platform by the indefatigable Tyler Perry Studio is debatably a good movie. The stories center’s around a woman Grace who confesses to killing her new husband, and a lawyer who seeks to uncover the possible conspiracy theories. The story embeds so many lessons one of which tells you to watch out for your closest friends. This is the first Tyler Perry film to be released by Netflix. However, since its release, it has been trending on social media for both good and bad reasons. Varying reviews ranging from story quality, wardrobe and other technicalities.

Wonder Woman 1984

Release date: June 5, 2020

The sequel to the 1st part of this adventure movie is expected to be released for box office in June and  fans of this special female super hero movie are waiting with bated breath. It will feature Diana (Wonder woman) taking on the Soviet Union and a new villain, Cheetah. In October 2018, the film’s release date was pushed back for a second time. The teaser trailer, released in December 2019, features an orchestral cover version of New Order’s “Blue Monday”, arranged by Sebastian Böhm. Part of the film was shot on 70mm IMAX cameras and expand aspect ratio during select sequences.

Black Widow

The black widow is expected to be released in April this year . The story centers on the Black Widow (aka Natasha Romanova) who is given to the Russian espionage agency, the KGB. They groom her to become their ultimate operative. When the U.S.S.R. breaks up, the government tries to kill her as the action moves to present-day New York, where she is a freelance operative. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is intended to be the twenty-fourth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The King’s Man

Release Date: September 18, 2020

If you’re a spy movie buff you could add this to your watch list for 2020. One man must race against time to stop history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds as they get together to plot a war that could wipe out millions of people and destroy humanity. This movie reunited Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Writer, Producer, and Director Matthew Vaughn, who previously worked together on Kick-Ass (2010).

Incidentally, in the comics, the characters from Kick-Ass and Kingsman: The Secret Service (both co-created by Mark Millar) exist in the same universe. Its release was delayed from November 15, 2019 to February 14, 2020 and now to the final date above .

Peter Rabbit 2:

Peter Rabbit 2 is an upcoming computer-animated adventure comedy filmwritten by Patrick Burleigh and Gluck. The film is a sequel to 2018’s Peter Rabbit, and is based on the stories of Peter Rabbit created by Beatrix Potter. Peter can’t seem to shake his reputation for mischief among the other rabbits. Once he adventures out of the garden Peter finds himself in a world where mischief is appreciated, but soon his family come to bring him home.The film stars the voice of James Corden as the title character, alongside others. . John Henry

Producing this movie gulped $152 million dollars and it hopes to recoup this investment from a stellar performance at the cinemas. The film is about a retired navy officer facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past. Tom Cruise, Jerry Bruckheimer, David Ellison, and Don Granger are the producers of this action packed film. it is worthy to note that Cruise and Kilmer reprise their roles from the first film.

The Lovebirds

Release Date: April 3, 2020

Genre: Romance, Comedy

Right from the early days of Insecure-The series, we loved Issa Rae and we are happy to see her on the big screens for this movie. Lovebirds is about a couple that gets enmeshed in a murder mystery. They must stick together to clear their names and solve the case. They need to figure out how they, and their relationship, can survive the night. It will have its world premiere at South by Southwest in March 2020. It is scheduled to be released by Paramount Pictures.

After a brief hiatus, Vin Diesel of the Fast and Furious fame is back. Bloodshot is scheduled to be released in the United States in March 2020, by Sony Pictures and then to the rest of the world subsequently.

This movie is about a Marine Ray Garrison (Vin Diesel) who is reborn by a team of scientists. Enhanced with nanotechnology, he becomes a superhuman, biotech killing machine – Hence the title “Bloodshot”. Filming was in Cape Town, South Africa, and in Prague, Czech Republic, with some filming taking place in Budapest, Hungary.

Critics and movie buffs have declared that Christopher Nolan’s latest film is the most exciting for 2020.

Tenet is an action thriller written by Christopher Nolan and produced by Nolan and Emma Thomas. Tenet is scheduled to be released by Warner Bros in July 2020. The production of this action flick has gulped $250 million. Much of its story line has been kept under lock and key but from what we know so far from the trailer, it’s definitely is an espionage thriller.
