– Dry skin: This is usually dull. It gets wrinkled and flakes easily.
– Oily skin: This has large skin pores. It prone to acne and usually shiny in appearance.
– Sensitive skin: This gets easily irritated. It also prone to acne, itches, rash, etc. Anyone with sensitive skin needs to be extra conscious of how they care for their skin as it is very delicate.
Some people have the same skin type all over their body while it differs for others. This is called Combination skin. An example is having dry skin on the arms and legs then having oily skin on the face and back. The skin care for these areas would differ as the dry areas would require more moisture than others.

A regular face routine includes cleansing, exfoliating, toning and moisturizing. Other treatments may dependent on your skin condition, or a particular goal you want to achieve. Go for dermatological tested products labelled according to your skin type. You can opt for natural DIYs if you do not want OTCs.

Protect your face
Having your face come in contact with dirty surfaces such as people’s hands or skin, makeup brushes, pillowcase, clothing, phone and even your hair can affect the outcome of your skin.
Try as much as possible to prevent, anything from coming in contact with your face especially if it is not clean.
Do not allow people touch your face for any unnecessarily. The hands come in contact with more dirt and germs than you can imagine – spreading infectious diseases. You too, avoid touching your face unnecessarily and wash your hands regularly with soap.
Wash your makeup brushes and pillowcases at least once in a week. Use makeup brushes with soft ends for gentleness on your facial skin. Replace silk/satin pillowcases with cotton: the former accumulates dirt on its surface more than the latter. Hair styles that touch the face shouldn’t be done regularly. In fact, it is better not to carry such hairstyles for long. If your hair is long, nicely tuck it away from your face especially before bed.
Clothing with tough texture should not have a chance with your face. Phones accumulate just as much dirt as our hands. Clean your phone surface regularly with baby wipes. Use earpiece or ear-pods to minimize phone – face contact. Do not use your body towel on your face. Have a separate towel for your face, preferably microfiber because of its soft texture and gentle feel.
