It goes without saying that 2020 was a crazy year which sadly had very limited movie releases which makes the incoming year one full of anticipation for both movies and series alike from the large global movie studios.

So, without further ado below are the top five movies we are looking forward to in 2021 and why you should do same.

  • Black Widow
  • Fast and Furious 9
  • No time to Die
  • Godzilla vs Kong
  • The conjuring: The devil made me do it

Black Widow

Director: Cate Shortland

Starring: Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, Robert Downey Jr., Rachel Weisz, David Harbour

Release Date: May 7,2021

Produced by the ever-successful Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The movie is slated to be the 24th film release of the marvel cinematic universe and the third female led movie by the marvel Comics movie franchise.

Scarlett Johansson returns in this movie to wind the clock back to the origin of the black widow story in the now defunct U.S.S.R, where her character Natasha Romanova is trained by the KGB to be its top field operative but with the fall of the Soviet Union the government tries to decommission her. The black widow has never failed to be entertaining as a character in other marvel movie releases so we expect this solo movie of the character to be scintillating.

Fast & Furious 9

Director: Justin Lin

Starring: Vin Diesel, John Cena, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Charlize Theron, Dwayne Johnson, Cardi B, Ludacris

Release Date: May 28,2021

Initially scheduled to be released on May 22nd 2020. The 9th installment of the fast and furious movie franchise is filed with high octane gasoline, sibling rivalry, revenge and lots of horsepower. In this movie Dominic Toretto and his crew come together once to battle a villain that is not only the most highly skilled assassin, they had ever come across but also doubles as the best high-performance driver to elude the crew time and time again. And surprise surprise the villain is Dom’s long-lost brother.

No Time To Die

Director: Cary Joji Fukunaga

Starring: Daniel Craig, Rami Malek, Ana de Armas, Naomie Harris, Léa Seydoux, Lashana Lynch

Release Date: April 2,2021

The fictional otherwise sometimes larger than life British M16 spy Agent James Bond comes back into active duty after leaving to enjoy a peaceful life in Jamaica. He is visited by Felix Leiter, a CIA officer and a friend of his, who enlists his help in the search for a missing scientist. At some point it becomes clear that the scientist was kidnapped, Bond must now face a villain whose evil plans could cause the deaths of millions. It is worthy of note that this is Daniel Craig’s last appearance as 007 so best believe he will leave it all on the center stage.

Godzilla and Kong

Director: Adam Wingard

Starring: Julian Dennison, Millie Bobby Brown, Jessica Henwick, Kyle Chandler, Alexander Skarsgård, Rebecca Hall

Release Date: May 21, 2021

In the movie industry, no monsters have ever been able to match up to Godzilla or King Kong. These two heavyweights of the legendary monsterverse face off for the second time in the last 60 years ago when they both had their first encounter with each other. Much hasn’t been released about the movie’s plot line but we can safely say that the battle of these titans leaves the existence of the human race hanging in the balance. And also, because the past movies centering on both monsters were such epic hits this titanic duel of a movie is expected to knock our socks off.

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It

Director: Michael Chaves

Starring: Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga, Julian Hilliard, Mitchell Hoog, Charlene Amoia, Ruairi O’Connor

Release Date: June 4, 2021

This movie is for all the horror genre fans out there. The third installment of the ongoing conjuring movie series. This third movie differs from the previous ones in that it does not feature a haunted house but rather one of the most puzzling and downright sensational cases claimed to have been experienced by Ed and Lorraine Warren. In this case the defendant in a murder case claims to have been possessed by a demon. And this horrifying story all starts with attempts to save the soul of a young boy which leads the couple down a dark hole they had never experienced anything similar in times past.

And there you have it. As the year 2020 comes to a close, looking forward to the coming year is normal but these five movies give us reasons to be excited for 2021.
