The organizers of the Akada Children’s Book Festival have launched an e-magazine in the build up to Akada Children’s Book Festival. Akada Children’s Book Festival, Nigeria’s first book festival specifically for children holds Friday 30th and Saturday 31st October, 2020.

Apart from creating awareness for the ACBF, the 68-page digital magazine democratizes access to children related content so that every parent and teacher can help kids discover the joy of reading and also hone their creativity. The magazine also gives the schedule and itinerary of the Akada Children’s Book Festival, the biography of the speakers and facilitators and the various sessions. The magazine informs and updates readers about issues affecting children’s education, and provides insight about the world of children’s books in Nigeria. It also features books reviews, interviews with authors and illustrators and articles on how to improve reading and learning for children.

Olubunmi Aboderin Talabi, Convener of the Akada Children’s Book Festival expressed her delight that despite the various happenings this year, the 2020 edition could still hold albeit a virtual one.

“This year, we have gone global as it is a virtual event open to participants from all over the world. Tagged #Akada2020AtHome, we pushed through the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic to bring the festival to you; the wonder of technology making it possible for us to revel in our love of books together, even though we are physically apart” she said.

This online edition of the festival which will be accessible by audiences all over the world comprises of inspiring book chats, panel discussions, professional workshops for writers, illustrators and publishers, insightful sessions for parents and teachers, interactive and engaging workshops for children, hands-on activities for children, pop quizzes and puzzles amongst others.
