Tiwa Savage’s latest deal with leading music corporation, Universal Music Group, makes her the first Afrobeats female star to sign a global record deal. Unlike her management deal with Roc Nation a couple years back, Tiwa Savage will no longer continue as Mavin Records‘ first lady. The artiste is saying goodbye to the Don Jazzy led record label after seven years. One would think that there would be negative emotions between the iconic artiste and her now former record label, but from what we are seeing, it’s all love between the former collaborators.
A New Era for Tiwa Savage
CEO of Mavin Records, Don Jazzy took to social media to give a standing ovation to the latest achievement of the afrobeats diva with a beautiful tribute.
“Our darling Tiwatope. We at Mavin would like to say a very big thank you for being such an inspiration to all of us, a friend, a sister. It’s been an epic journey with you and we are very proud of what we have achieved together. As you start this new chapter in your life we want you to know that we are solidly behind you and can’t wait for the world to see what we have always believed you can be. Your jersey as the First Lady of Mavin will forever be yours as we do not intend to fill that position with anyone else. We love you from the bottom of heart and pray GOD’s blessings continue to follow you. Amennnn.” – the Mavin boss wrote on Instagram
Tiwa Savage in turn opened up about her solid bond with the Mavin boss and the entire crew sharing an emotional story of how Don Jazzy had always been there for her. “Tt’s beyond a contract, I’m a Mavin for life” she writes.
Excited to see all Tiwa has in store with her new record label (with artistes like Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes Luke Bryan, Kay Perry Selena Gomez and more in their roster) and to see who fills the obvious void the diva has left at Mavin Group. This makes it 2 of Mavin Records’ big stars leaving what was until recently, Africa’s biggest record label. Considering how Don Jazzy created the label and took it to the heights it did, we are certain Mavin crew will be back bigger and better in no time.
