Nadal def. Dimitrov 3-6, 7-6, 7-6, 6-2 today at Melbourne Park
World No. 1, Rafael Nadal stormed through a sensational game against Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov to book a place at the semi finals of the ongoing Australian Open tourmnnament today. What made the game really sensational was the fact that the Spaniard battled through the game with large blisters on his hand. Nadal played with taped up fingers to fend off blisters, but ended up with an open wound after a blister burst in the palm of his hand during the game.

Horrible looking blisters on his racquet hand , cant imagine the pain. “Especially with the Serve, the rest of the hand is more or less fine” A worried Nadal said.

Nadal recieved treatment twice for the injury during the game

Although Nadal won the game, 22-year old Dimitrov who has been dubbed “baby Federer” because of his style of play didn’t make it an easy game (3hrs,37minutes) for the world No.1.

Nadal and Dimitrov shake hands

Nadal who had seven double-faults during the game needs the deep wound to heal fast ahead of a semi-final blockbuster clash on Friday night with four-time Australian Open winner, Roger Federer who defeated Andy Murray today.
