The Grammys are the first and biggest award held annually. Out of the 3 Big networks’ major music awards in American Music, The Grammys is the most respected. The American music Awards has a board which precise over nominations and declare winners through objective consideration and public preference. It was first presented in the year 1959 on the 4th of May.

Jay-Z has won 22 awards from 77 nominations. Jay-Z has been a dominant force in hip hop since winning his first ever award in 1998: Best Rap Album for “Vol. 2…Hard Knock Life.” But till date, he has only ever won once outside of rap & R&B genre categories: Best Music Video for “Suit and Tie” with Justin Timberlake.

Lamar has won thirteen Grammy Awards. At the 57th Grammy Awards in 2015, his single “i” earned him his first two wins: Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance. At the 58th Grammy Awards, Lamar led the list of nominations with 11 mentions, passing Eminem and Kanye West as the rapper with the most nominations in a single night, and second overall behind Michael Jackson and Babyface, who hold the record of 12 nominations. Lamar was the most-awarded artist at the ceremony with five.

Lauryn Hill – 8 Grammys

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill album was nominated for ten Grammy Awards and won five that night, Including Album of the Year, becoming the first hip hop album to win the award, while Hill broke the record at the time for most wins for a female artist in one night. At the 41st Grammy Awards, the record earned her five awards, including Album of the Year and Best New Artist. Hill won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album as a member of The Fugees, for their album The Score, becoming the first female artist to win the award.
