As an entrepreneur trying to make a mark in today’s busy world, making time for health and fitness can be quite challenging. Most entrepreneurs often don’t have a steady 9 to 5 schedule, or even predictable hours. They may work late into the night, early morning, or weekends. Whilst it is great to hustle and make money, health and fitness should not be compromised as this is the real wealth.

So, can you get the money and still stay on track with your health and wellness goals? Yes, you can! Here is a list of 5 ways to stay healthy and fit even as a busy entrepreneur.

Stay Hydrated

Hydration is paramount.  An average adult human body is composed of 50-65 per cent water, making it an essential element for survival.

Taking 8-10 glasses of water helps the body to dilute toxic components in the body, thereby keeping the system free from diseases. Irrespective of the profession, everyone needs to maintain a certain amount of water level, which calls for drinking water as often and as many times as possible.

Opt for healthier diets.

Clean diet is a major key to stay healthy even while at work. Most of the business professionals find it more convenient to order food rather than carrying a homemade meal, forgetting the significance of diet in keeping one’s lifestyle in check.

Following a simple and clean diet is important to staying fit, keeping certain diseases at bay and reducing the risk of diseases like diabetes and cardiovascular challenges. A clean diet should include lots of green veggies, fresh fruits and roasted nuts.

Stay Physically Active

Most busy entrepreneurs find it challenging to maintain a steady workout regimen, which is  why for those who can’t keep up with the hard-core regimen, resorting to light activities like walking, meditation and yoga is a good option.

Even if it is late after work, go for a walk or do Yoga early in the morning. Small and simple exercises will help you stay fit and healthy. Seeing to it that you get up to 5 minutes walk every one hour is a great way to stay active.

Prioritize Quality Sleep

For every individual, sleep plays a crucial role in rejuvenating the mind and body from an entire day’s fatigue. It is essential as an adult to get a good 7-8 hours of uninterrupted quality sleep but if you are that busy entrepreneur, and maybe 5-6 is  all you’ve got, ensure that they are uninterrupted and get a quality sleep.

Studies show that high blood pressure, diabetes, heart attack, heart failure or strokes are some of the potential problems associated with chronic sleep deprivation. Sufficient sleep is the key to achieving a clearer mind and attaining mental stability to give your career or business the creativity and boost that it needs.

Practice Meditation

Practicing meditation will help set you up for success in your workout and in your business. You don’t have to go to a meditation class every day, but try to spend 5 minutes by yourself. Find a clean space in your home. Sit there for just 5 minutes (you can go for longer periods after a while) with your eyes closed. Keep your cell phone and other distractions away during this time.

In Buddhist philosophy, the ultimate benefit of meditation is liberation of the mind from attachment to things it cannot control. The liberated or “enlightened” practitioner no longer needlessly follows desires or clings to experiences, but instead maintains a calm mind and sense of inner harmony. Some benefits of meditation to the nervous system include: Lower blood pressure, improved blood circulation, lower heart rate, less perspiration, slower respiratory rate, less anxiety, lower blood cortisol level and less stress.
