Creativity is an important part of life and in the ever improving and competitive world we live in today, creative thinking is a critical fuel for growth and success. With less emphasis being laid on qualifications and certificates, the need for creative thinking is now in demand more than ever. Both the corporate and organizational landscape require creativity from their staff and employees. Business owners, young entrepreneurs and established leaders all require excellent creative abilities to thrive in today’s work landscape. Creative thinking is not a talent, it is a skill that can be learnt. It empowers people to see beyond barriers and regular interventions and solutions. Creative thinking adds strength to one’s natural abilities which improves teamwork, productivity and profits.

Here’s a 5 useful tips that can help you improve your creative thinking

  1. Create a Daily Inspiration Ritual

One of the best ways to inspire yourself and improve your ability to create daily is to develop rituals that you begin to use regularly and routinely. This will condition your brain for better creativity. It could be as little as listening to music.

  1. Stay Devoted

As much as discipline is necessary to get things done, your commitment and devotion matters a lot. Renowned  Italian operatic tenor, Luciano Pavarotti once said: “People think I’m disciplined. It’s not discipline, its devotion, and there’s a great difference.”

  1. Idea Selection

Once you get inspired, different ideas and thoughts come up. List down each idea that comes to mind and determine the one you think is the best. You can also bring a pen and small notebook wherever you go so you don’t forget the ideas that come to you when you’re riding a bus, having a lunch, reading a book, lying down or watching videos on the internet.

  1. Take Breaks

When you feel stuck with an idea and you have nowhere to go, you need a breather. Forcing yourself to find a solution will only lead to exhaustion. Some inspirations will strike you at the most unexpected places, and you’d be surprised that you often get them when you’re actually not working.

  1. Know Your Peak Hours

Some people are more creative and productive in certain hours of the day, while others are more creative at the height of their emotions. Determine your creative hours and work your heart out at these specific times and let your creative juices flow freely. Creativity can also be improved if you put yourself in a certain place in the room or if you surround yourself with certain music, find what makes your creative juices flow and use them.
