The Recording Academy, organizers of the Grammys have revealed that renowned Nigerian artist Burna Boy will take the stage as one of the performers at the upcoming 2024 live award show. This announcement undoubtedly marks a historic moment for Africa.

Burna Boy – Record-Breaking Nominations and a Live Act

In a groundbreaking announcement made on January 22nd, 2024, Burna Boy is set to etch his name in history as the first African artist to deliver a live performance at the Grammy Awards. This achievement adds to the superstar’s impressive track record, as he previously made history by being the first Nigerian artist within the local music industry to secure a Grammy win in 2021. His fifth album, ‘Twice As Tall,’ earned him the accolade for Best Global Album.

As the 2024 Grammys approach, scheduled for February 4th (Feb. 5th WAT), Burna Boy finds himself nominated in an unprecedented four categories. A Nigerian record for the most nominations in a single Grammy year. Notably, he is vying for the Best Melodic Rap Performance with his single ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World,’ featuring 21 Savage. This nomination places him as the first Nigerian lead artist to be recognized outside of the global categories.

This year’s Grammys will mark Burna Boy’s second performance at the esteemed event, following his appearance at the 2021 Grammys Premiere show.
