The Nigerian music industry celebrated its achievements at the 2023 Headies Award, held in Atlanta Georgia on Sunday, September 3, 2023. This was the second year in a row that the prestigious award ceremony took place in Atlanta. 

The Headies, which started in 2006, has become the biggest prize in Nigerian music and a platform for showcasing the progress made by Nigerian artists.

The night belonged to Mavin star, Rema, who won three awards and delivered a speech highlighting Nigerian music’s importance in the global scene.

Other notable winners were Asake, who bagged two awards including the highly coveted Next Rated Award; and Burna Boy, who scooped the Afrobeat Single of the Year and the Best R&B Song.

The 2023 Headies Award event was hosted by award-winning Nigerian actress, Osas Ighodaro and American media personality and actor, Terrence Jenkins.
