The 29th Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG AWARDS 2023) took place at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles on Sunday, honoring some of the year’s best television and film performances that were voted on by the actors themselves.
The evening had some highlights including the continued momentum of the 2022 hit film “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” with the film’s stars Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Ke Huy Quan winning acting awards in their respective categories. Michelle Yeoh made history with her win for best performance by a female actor in a leading role at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, becoming the first Asian woman to win a leading film acting award. In a similar fate, actor Ke Huy Quan made history during Sunday’s 2023 SAG Awards after becoming the first Asian male to win the outstanding supporting actor award in the film category.
Viewing this year’s SAG Awards was a unique experience because the ceremony was live-streamed on Netflix’s YouTube channel. Beginning in 2024, the show will stream globally on Netflix.
