The 93rd Academy Awards ceremony honoured the best films of 2020 and early 2021. The iconic event took place on Sunday, April 25, 2021, at Union Station and the Dolby Theatre, both in Los Angeles. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on cinema, the event which usually holds in February was held two months later than usual, and at dual venues to adhere to covid-19 restrictions.
Unlike the previous award shows held earlier in the year, for this year’s Academy Awards, Hollywood attempted a return to normalcy, by putting on a less virtual show and a more in-person show. There were however fewer attendees as only nominees, presenters and their plus-ones could attend.
Although the COVID-19 impact is still being felt, Hollywood celebrities weren’t going to allow anything dull their shine, not even the pandemic. They showed up in glam, blinding colours, breathtaking cuts, big designer names etc.
It was incredibly tough narrowing down all the outfits that stormed the 2021 Oscars’ red carpet, but we’ve selected a few women and men who absolutely did it for us. Enjoy the view!
