Meghan Markle, The Duchess of Sussex, is set to take center stage alongside notable figures Katie Couric and Brooke Shields at the upcoming 38th edition of South By Southwest (SXSW) later this week. Taking place from March 8 to 16 in Austin, Texas, SXSW 2024 promises a diverse array of discussions and events.

The earlier announced keynote, titled “Breaking Barriers, Shaping Narratives: How Women Lead On and Off the Screen,” features an esteemed lineup of influential figures. This includes Meghan Markle, The Duchess of Sussex. Markle is recognized as a feminist and advocate for human rights and gender equity, and a co-founder of The Archewell Foundation and Archewell Productions. Markle recently inked a deal with Lemonada Media to introduce a new podcast and distribute Archetypes. Archetypes is a podcast that delves into societal labels that hinder women’s progress.

Joining Markle are Katie Couric. – an Emmy Award-winning journalist and New York Times bestselling author, and Brooke Shields. – a two-time Golden Globe Award-nominated actress, model, entrepreneur, and also a New York Times bestselling author. Additionally, Nancy Wang Yuen, an author, sociologist, pop culture expert, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Consultant at Peoplism, will bring her insights to the panel. The SXSW keynote session will be moderated by Errin Haines. Haines is the host of The Amendment podcast and founding Mother and Editor-at-Large for The 19th News.
The panel aims to explore the progress of women’s representation in media and entertainment. With a focus on the challenges still faced by women of colour and mothers. Additionally, it will delve into the impact of social media on the mental health of teenage girls.
