The viewers have made their choices.On Saturday night, the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA), honoured achievements in movies and TV from 2019. The star studded event was a night of glamour, Victory and some snubs. The corona virus did not stop the celebrities who showed up and showed out ready to be appreciated.

Timini Eguson with the “Best Actor in a Drama” Award (c) African Magic

Ramsey Noah’s Living in Bondage captured the night’s Best Movie prize, along with six other accolades including for Best Director for Ramsey Noah. Other acting awards at the AMVCA went to Timini Egbuson and Toyin Abraham who won the Best Actor and Actress in a Drama respectively for their roles in Elevator Baby. Funke Akindele took home the AMVCA for Best Actress in a Comedy for her role in Moms at War. The biggest surprise of the night was Kemi Adetiba’s King of Boys which was totally snubbed. The movie which garnered seven nominations did not pick up a single award to the surprise and consternation of fans and critics.

The 2020 AMVCA which was hosted by the duo of IK Osakioduwa and Kenyan celebrity Amina Abdi Rabar is organized by Africa Magic in association with MultiChoice. The 7th edition of the AMVCA was sponsored by Amstel Malta.
