The stars came out in their numbers to attend BET‘s 2019 Black Girls Rock Awards on Sunday night. The event which was hosted by TV host and Emmy nominated actress Niecy Nash, was held at the New Jersey performing arts center at Newark, New Jersey.
The star studded lineup of celebrants and attendees included Golden Globe winner and Oscar nominated actress, Angela Bassett who received this year‘s Icon Award; Emmy winning actress and director, Regina King who received this year’s Star Power Award; Grammy Award winning Ciara was awarded the Rock Star Award; H.E.R who is also a Grammy winner was awarded the Young, Gifted and Black Award; Brandy, Erykah Badu, Remy Ma, Common, Issa Rae to mention a few. The show airs on the 8th of September so you can see all the winners, but first, let us show you the stars who brought that black excellence to the red carpet.
Black Girls Rock – Top 10 Best Dressed Red Carpet Look
- Angela Bassett
The legendary actress strutted the red carpet in this 60s inspired look by Alberta Ferretti FW18 Couture and was styled by Jennifer Austin. She accessorized with a pair of dangling earrings and a clutch purse and a pair of Jimmy Choos.

The Rock Star Award recipient looked absolutely divine in this dress from Zuhair Muad SS19 Couture and was styled by Maeve Reilly. Cici accessorized with diamonds on her fingers and that hair was just perfect.

The super talented and award winning actress wore Oscar De La Renta black and white stripe suit to the event. She chose black pumps with little accessories, looked like a total boss chick with high fashion taste.

Star child actor Skai Jackson also lit the red carpet up in this simple yet hot dress from Philosophy Di Lorenzo Serafini RS20. She barely accessorized which left her shoulders and neck empty but she paired the dress with a pair of black heels.

2019 Miss USA looked super elegant in this white studded piece from Shop Silhouette and a gorgeous Afro as her crown. She matched the dress with silver heels. What a beauty!
- Lala Milan
Internet sensation turned actress Lala Milan looked absolutely gorgeous in this Ankara piece by Lavieck. The dress had a little plunging neckline and a flower from her knees. Such an elegant look. Loved that she barely accessorized because the dress what already bright and huge and loved that she went for a bob weave.
- Issa Rae
“Insecure” star took the simple route and opted for a green dress and we are green with envy. She paired it with a silver purse and silver heels and simple silver hoops. Her hairstyle tho, beautiful! If you know Issa, you’d know she loves them braids and she rocks them well.
- Monica Brown
Singer and entrepreneur Monica went in all of her black power and puff to the Black Girls Rock Awards. She wore this black velvet jumpsuit with dramatic sleeves and wide legs. The only way to describe this look is Black Power.
- Niecy Nash
This list won’t be complete without the delectable Host, Niecy Nash. She was in head to toe pink satin suit with a plunging neckline and pink purse. She definitely didn’t come to play!
