The Council of Fashion Designers of America, Inc. (CFDA) is a not-for-profit trade association of America’s foremost fashion and accessory designers, and for their 2021 fashion awards, they announced actor, producer and Academy voter, Zendaya as the 2021 recipient of the prestigious fashion icon award for her global impact on fashion. The event is slated for 10th November 2021.
Worthy recognition.
There is no argument that Zendaya knows how best to make a fashion statement on and off the red carpet, so it is almost no surprise that she is being honoured for her incredible fashion style. as a matter of fact, only a few days ago, Instyle Magazine unveiled Zendaya as the cover star of their Best Dressed Issue.
You would recall that in 2013, Zendaya launched the Daya by Zendaya clothing line, early on pioneering gender-fluid designs and a more inclusive size range. She also notably collaborated with CFDA board member Tommy Hilfiger on the Tommy x Zendaya collection, inspired by strong, iconic women and presented in Paris first and then at the historic Apollo Theater in New York. Today, she is a spokesperson for Lancôme, Bulgari, and Valentino.
“Clothes sometimes are very emotional, so I get to embody these different facets—maybe they’re of myself, or maybe they’re alter egos.” – Zendaya
Previous fashion icon recipients.
With this award, Zendaya joins a list of Fashion Icon recipients such as Beyonce Knowles, Naomi Campbell, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez and Pharell Williams.
Zendaya keeps breaking records and we can see why, and if you didn’t know, Zendaya is the youngest recipient of the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her performance in Euphoria. So beyond killing it in fashion, she is also a phenomenal actress. See more about Zendaya here.
