“Rockstar” is a song by American rapper DaBaby, featuring vocals from another Ace American rapper Roddy Ricch. The song was released on the 17th of April, 2020 as the second single from DaBaby’s third studio album; “Blame It on Baby” (2020). The song was written by the two performers and it was produced by SethInTheKitchen. “Rockstar” has spent five non-consecutive weeks at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. The song also topped the charts in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Ireland, New Zealand, Portugal, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, and peaked within the top ten of the charts in Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden.
Blinding Lights – The Weekend
Blinding Lights is a song by Canadian singer; “The Weekend”. The song serves as the second single of his fourth studio album; After Hours (2020). It was released on the 29th of November, 2019, two days after the release of “Heartless”. The Weekend wrote and produced the song with producers like Max Martin and Oscar Holter, with Belly and Jason Quenneville receiving additional writing credits. AA Chromatics remix of the song was released alongside the deluxe edition of its parent album on March 23, 2020.
What’s Popping? – Jack Harlow
Jack Harlow’s TikTok-famous song has been slowly but steadily rising on the charts (not for lack of streams — the music video alone has over 74 million views). But with the release of a “Whats Poppin” remix featuring DaBaby, Tory Lanez, and Lil Wayne, it jumped ten spots to No. 8 last week, earning Jack Harlow his first Billboard Top 10, and another six spots to No. 2 on the 6th of July.
“Whats Poppin” dropped pre-pandemic on January 21, with a video produced by Lyrical Lemonade and directed by Cole Bennett. The song quickly exploded on TikTok, especially thanks to its Pooh Beatz and JetsonMade–made beat.
Savage – Megan Thee Stallion Feat Beyonce
Megan Thee Stallion’s hit has gradually become an anthem. What’s more, is it has been sprinkled with a bit of the “Queen Bee” spice. That’s right! Beyoncé has hopped on the official remix of Megan Thee Stallion’s viral sensation “Savage”.
Beyonce appears on the remix to Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage” rapping about Onlyfans and Instagram “demon time,” major topics of conversation in the last two months of the lock down.
Rose’s – Saint JHN ft Dj Imanek
The 2019 DJ Imanbek remix of the R&B song has the streaming numbers, with over 100 million views on YouTube. It also has several TikTok trends amassing over 3 million videos; and on June 15, it hit no. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. “Roses” was released by Brooklyn rapper and songwriter Saint Jhn in 2016. But the remix that’s gone viral on TikTok just came out in 2019. Nineteen-year-old Kazakh producer Imanbek took Saint Jhn’s slow-moving, hypnotic rap and turned it into a bouncy, high-pitched banger. Lyrics; “I walked in the corner with the body screaming dolo / Never sold a bag but look like Pablo in a photo / This gon’ make ‘em feel the way like Tony killed Manolo / You already know though, you already know though” – A Fire song!
For the Night – Pop Smoke Featuring Lil Baby
Just half a year after his death, Pop Smoke dominates the two most important Billboard charts; the Billboard 200 (albums) and Hot 100 (songs), though he does so in very different ways. Two of Smoke’s current charting hits have landed on the Hot 100 before, while all the rest are brand new. The rapper adds 17 more songs to his career’s total placements on the ranking, and he has now reached the list with 22 tunes.
Leading the pack of his 19 wins is “For the Night,” which features fellow musicians Lil Baby and DaBaby. That cuts opens at No. 6, giving Smoke his first top 10 on the Hot 100 just months after he passed away.
Watermelon Sugar – Harry Styles
“Watermelon Sugar” is a song by English singer Harry Styles from his second studio album Fine Line (2019), included as the album’s second track. Styles wrote the song with Mitch Rowland and its producers include; Tyler Johnson and Kid Harpoon. They were inspired by the American novel In Watermelon Sugar (1968) by Richard Brautigan. “Watermelon Sugar” is a horn and guitar-driven rock, funk-pop, and indie pop song.
“Watermelon Sugar” was later released as the album’s fourth single on 15th of May 2020. The song was positively received by critics, with many praising its concept and Styles’ vocals. The single also performed well commercially, reaching the top-ten in 16 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada.
Blueberry FayGo – Lil Mosey
Lil Mosey’s “Blueberry Faygo” has never been officially released. An unofficial version leaked online prior to its release, causing the track to take the internet by storm. The song would eventually become the intro track on the re-issue of his 2019 album, Certified Hitmaker. The song recently cracked Billboard‘s Top 40, where it currently sits at 38.
Say So – Doja Cat Featuring Nicki Minaj
Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj topped the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in their careers in May 2020 with the “Say So” remix. The Barbz celebrated the end of Minaj’s 10-year odyssey to reach the top after giving Doja’s groovy disco-tinged hit more lift-off. Much more than TikTok (which first sparked the song’s popularity) with her signature bars that bow down to her status as a hip-hop icon.
The song is the first collaboration between two female rappers to top the Hot 100. Minaj charted for two weeks as a featured artist. The song’s commercial performance has been described as a comeback for producer Dr. Luke. The single also reached number 1 in Latvia, the top five in sixteen additional countries, and is certified Gold or higher in twelve countries.
Intentions – Justin Bieber
“Intentions” is a song by Canadian singer Justin Bieber featuring American rapper Quavo from the hip-hop trio Migos. It was released with a music video on February 7, 2020, as the second single from Bieber’s fifth studio album Changes (2020). This is their third collaboration since they both featured alongside American rapper Chance the Rapper on DJ Khaled’s “I’m the One”, with an extra feature from American rapper Lil Wayne in 2017 and “No Brainer” in 2018.
“Intentions” was named the 32nd best songs of 2020 by Billboard and the 45th by Uproxx. “Intentions” was also named as one of the best summer songs of 2020 by Marie Claire.
