The grand premier of the highly anticipated movie “The Bling Lagosians” went down Sunday night at the Film House Cinema, Lekki, Lagos. And in usual fashion, stars glammed up, ready to burn the red carpet to the ground with their variety of fiery looks. The dress code for the glamorous night was “Eko for Show” and to turn up the heat further, N1M total prize money was set aside for the best dressed. The individual who emerges victorious will go home with N500, 000 while the first and second runner up will get N350, 000 and N150, 000 respectively.
Lagos is the fashion capital of Africa and like Banky W ‘s famous song stated, “ain’t no party like a Lagos party“, so with a theme like Eko For Show, you know the stars were going to bring it! There were some stars who looked really good, but were not on theme. Of honorable mentions are Osas Ighodaro Ajibade in Toju Foyeh, Anto Lecky in Bibi Lawrence and Sharon Ooja in a show-stopping look from Somo by Somo respectively. They looked absolutely gorgeous but as beautiful as their looks were, they weren’t Eko enough. So based on theme only, they didn’t make the list, but they were sure blinging!
We’ve selected our best looks from the night based on the theme, execution and creativity. Without further ado and in no particular order, dive in and see the looks your favourite celebrities served.
Chioma Akpotha
*Cues in Lagbaja’s oni gele* Here is Chioma in Bimms 24 and styled by Derin Odugbesan. She definitely nailed the theme, looking like the typical Lagos cash madam going for owambe with gele big enough to block you from seeing an oncoming vehicle. She looks super good and the colours are a perfect fit for her. The make up is clean and on point.
Beverly Naya
Here she is in WeizDhurm Franklyn looking like a page out of the most fashionable magazine cover! From the dress with the unique sleeves and embellishments to the skirt, and a gele to boot, Beverly’s outfit spoke for itself and commanded the red carpet. The skirt looked like something from under the ocean… The blend of colours is definitely remarkable. An easy favourite!
Monalisa Chinda
A star in the movie The Bling Lagosians, Monalisa Chinda stayed with the theme and looked absolutely gorgeous. Styled by Medlin Boss, she wore a V-necked gown that cinched at the waist. The fabric and style is simple yet luxurious plus the choice of head piece is perfect for the look. She didn’t do too much, she just let the quality of this gown bling for itself.
Alexx Ekubo
Alexx Ekubo aka Mr Nnamdi in The Bling Lagosians not only stole the show with his stellar performance in the film, he made an imprint on the red carpet at the premiere. He attended the event wearing a tuxedo from Michael Black Collection and styled by one of Nigeria’s leading stylists Swanky Jerry. He looked uber dapper and shiny in this black tux with gold details. Alexx came correct and blinged his way to our best dress list with his perfect look.
Shaffy Bello
Listen, Shaffy Bello heard the theme and ran away with it. The fashion killa and star actress was looking like the richest Alhaja of the land in an all white ensemble from Stitches by Chioma, styled by Yolanda Okereke. Yes, Shaffy, you go on and show off with your fashionable self!
IK Ogbonna
Nollywood bad boy IK Ogbonna took a different route and wore a lavender suit with blue flowery designs by Yomi Casual. He rocked the suit with white sneakers and the fact that he didn’t wear an inner shirt but chose to accessorize with jewellery, took his look up a notch. What else says steal the show like a tastefully opened chest?
Ini Dinma-Okojie
Arguably one of the best dressed in the industry, Ini looked stunning in this black tube dress and dramatic one arm sleeve. The sleeve which was made from black and white Asi-oke started from her neck, sewn into her bodice, visibly stopped st her elbow and then just went all the way down. Her black gele was simple yet wrapped around her head elegantly. She accessorised with bold earrings and rings. All together it’s a amazing piece!
Michelle Dede
Michelle’s outfit by Ejiro Amos Tafiri screams sophistication, class and show-off! The headpiece was obviously inspired by the Eyo masquerade…. wish they didn’t have to cut the headpiece to let her face show. The choice of shoes and purse were on theme as well
Bisola Aiyeola
Just like Monalisa Chinda, Bisola also starred in The Bling Lagosians movie played it safe but stayed on theme with this gorgeous dress from Somo by Somo. She looked beautiful and didn’t do too much with the gown because the fabric spoke volumes on its own.. The flowing fish tail train was a perfect embellishment, and her choice of accessories were on point… très élégante
CeeC
Big Brother Naija reality star, Cynthia Nwadiora popularly known as CeeC strut the red carpet looking shiny in this off the shoulder gold dress by Lanre Da Silva Ajayi with a thigh high slit. With puffy sleeves, the dress featured layers of embellishments like the egungun of Lagos, which she finished off with the perfect accessories.
Sticking strictly to the Eko theme, who wore your ultimate favorite look from this list and do you think we missed anyone from the night? The Bling Lagosians hit cinemas nationwide from the 28th of June, be sure to check it out. We thoroughly enjoyed the premiere – red carpet and movie screening.
