The 2019 Oscars held on Sunday the 24th of February 2019 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The 91st Academy awards was nothing but an unpredictable, glamorous night full of surprises. One delightful surprise was seeing Ruth E. Carter become the first black woman to win the Oscars for costume design in Academy history. Another huge surprise was Green Book, which took home Best Picture over fan favorites, Black Panther and stiff competition, Bohemian Rhapsody and Roma, both of which were strongly favored in most Oscars predictions.
Rami Malek and Bohemian Rhapsody continue their winning streak with . Green Book also snagged a statue for Best Original Screenplay. Spike Lee got his very first and long overdue academy award by taking home the win for his movie, BlacKkKlansman. Bradley Cooper took time off from his unenthusiastic role of glancing around to perform Shallow with Lady Gaga to the delight of everyone. The song, Shallow also won big at the Oscars by clinching the award for best original song. Mahershala Ali and his beanie won a second Oscar in three years! Regina King coasted to victory and is now an Oscar winner! And so is Olivia Colman.
