Hollywood’s biggest awards, The Academy Awards, announced nominees for the 89th edition on Tuesday morning and as predicted, the breakout hit modern musical La La Land scored the most nominations with 14 nods, tying a long-held record by Titantic (1997) and All About Eve (1950) for the most Oscar nominated film of all time!
Aside from La La Land and it’s record 14 nominations, the 89th Academy Awards is the best showing for non-white actors as Dev Patel, Octavia Spencer, Denzel Washington, Viola Davis, Naomie Harris, Mahershala Ali, and Ruth Negga receive Oscar noms.
With her nomination for best supporting actress, Viola Davis becomes the first black actress to earn the most nominations (3) while her friend, Meryl Streep becomes most nominated actress in history with 20 nods!
The Oscar awards will be held on the 26th of Februar, hosted by comedian and talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel.
