Less than a week after we rang in 2025, the 82nd annual Golden Globe Awards (Golden Globes 2025) kicked off awards season and the critically acclaimed production “Shōgun” dominated the night picking up the major awards for Television. It won the best TV drama series, picking up another accolade following its record total of 18 Emmy awards last fall.
Japanese actor Hiroyuki Sanada, 64, also won the award for best actor in a television drama, Anna Sawai, 32, the corresponding award for best actress, and Tadanobu Asano, 51, for best supporting actor.
On the film side, “The Brutalist,” which came into the night with seven nominations, earned numerous accolades. Adrien Brody took home his first Golden Globe for his leading role, Brady Corbet, who also co-wrote the film, earned a best director win, and the movie ultimately claimed the title of best drama motion picture.
“Emilia Pérez” won for best musical or comedy and best original song. Saldaña also took home the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a musical or comedy. Its stars, Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldaña, earned acting nods while Audiard was recognised for directing, songwriting and screenplay writing
