Buckingham Palace has released a new and final portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, photographed by Ranald Mackechnie. The picture shows the late monarch in a powder blue suit, smiling from ear to ear. She wears her signature three-strand pearl necklace and matching earrings. Pinned to her chest is an aquamarine brooch that was a present from her father, King George VI, on her 18th birthday.

This announcement was made via the official Twitter page of The Royal Family. It partially reads; “Ahead of Her Majesty The Queen’s State Funeral, a new photograph has been released”. “The photo was taken to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee – the first British Monarch to reach this milestone.”
The release of the poignant photograph came hours after the UK observed a minute’s silence in memory of the late monarch on the eve of the funeral.

On Monday 19th September 2022, Queen Elizabeth’s funeral will take place at Westminster Abbey. Numerous world leaders will attend – including US President Joe Biden – and the entire Windsor family.
Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of public members have been filing into Westminster Hall; where the Queen’s coffin has been lying in state since Thursday when it arrived in London.
