The CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Awards was held Monday night in Brooklyn, New York. The event which is like the Oscars of fashion, is held annually to recognize and appreciate the outstanding achievements of American designers.
Being that it’s an award show not just for any industry but for fashion, you know that your favourite designers, models and other fashion enthusiasts will come correct because that’s how stars do if I may borrow Skibii’s slang. There were many great looks but let’s check out our best dressed stars from the 2019 CFDA Awards.
1. Alek Wek
The south Sudanese-British model and designer wore a navy blue gown by Rosie Assoulin. The high necked dress was puffed out at the hips, flowing into an enormous skirt. She added a metallic clutch bag and some silver bangles to seal her look.
2. Jennifer Lopez
The triple threat dazzled in a sparkly orange long–sleeved crop top and flowing skirt by Ralph Lauren. She paired the ensemble with a red purse and dangling earrings. The ageless beauty was also recognized with the 2019 CFDA Awards Fashion Icon award.
The super model kept it absolutely simple and classic in this red silk dress by Brandon Maxwell. The dress had a short cape as it’s only embellishment. She paired it with diamond cuffed earrings.
4. Jhene Aiko
The American singer/songwriter showed up to the CFDA Awards in style. She looked absolutely ravishing in a pastel lavender two piece by Pyer Moss. She paired the outfit with silver strap heels and a side swept hairstyle.
Cindi wore a high necked green sequin mini dress and coordinating gloves by Angelys Balek pairing it with simple court heels and dangly earrings.
Looked every bit the black queen that she is in a sheer Vera Wang design featuring cutout lace detailing and a off-the-shoulder neckline. Ciara finished off her look with combat boots.
Ashley Graham looked like she stepped out of a 60s film in a custom Christian Siriano outfir which made her feel like she’s “in a Hitchock film”. The knee-length outfit had an elaborate ruffled bodice, elegant elbow length gloves, and a sleek black fascinator that heightened the drama of the entire look. That’s how you show up at the CFDA Awards!
8. Gigi Hadid
The supermodel stood tall, proud and layered in a monochrome sky blue Off-White ensemble by Virgil Abloh. The look featured a blazer, sash with a fanny pack attached, trousers and a pleated skirt, worn with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. Gigi Hadid x Virgil Abloh = high fashion that pushes the envelope… so very CFDA Awards!
9. Laura Harrier
Laura looked smoking hot and was also the picture of innocence (go figure!) in this red tulle dress with black polka dots from Khaite. She matched the gown with a brown leather belt and black and pointed toe shoes (the jury is not yet out on those shoes).
10. Diane Von Furstenberg
The Belgian designer who is the outgoing chairman of the council of fashion designers of America (CFDA) took a bow and passed on the torch to Tom Ford in this sheer floral embroidered design.
Phew! That definitely wasn’t easy but yes these are the ultimate best dressed stars from the CFDA Awards 2019 and we will be thrilled to know what yours are. Hit us up and let us know!
