Blessing Ernest, a fitness enthusiast and mental health advocate, is set to attempt two Guinness World Records on July 24th to raise awareness for Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD).

Ernest will vie for the titles of fastest squats and fastest jump squats in one minute. But these record attempts are more than just athletic feats; they are part of her campaign to shed light on BDD, a mental health condition characterised by a distorted view of one’s appearance.

“BDD is a serious condition that often goes undiagnosed, “I have struggled with BDD in the past, but with the help of therapy and fitness, I was able to overcome it. Now, I want to use my platform to give hope and strength to others battling this condition.”

About Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD)

Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) is a mental health condition that causes people to have a distorted view of their appearance. People with BDD may be preoccupied with flaws that others do not see or that are minor. This can lead to significant distress and impairment in daily life.

BDD affects millions of people worldwide, with women making up about 60% of diagnosed cases. Despite its prevalence, BDD is often under-recognized and under-diagnosed, making it difficult for people to get the help they need.

To further amplify her message, Ernest created a short film titled “More Than We See,” scheduled for release on her social media platforms this Saturday, July 13th. The film highlights her personal experience with BDD and the path to recovery.

Blessing Ernest’s story is a powerful testament to the transformative power of self-acceptance and advocacy. Her Guinness World Record attempts and film serve as a springboard for critical conversations about BDD and the importance of mental health.
