Like all things, there is a beginning. The Hollywood award season has officially kicked off, starting with the Golden Globe Awards held last night at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. This years Golden Globe Awards kicked off with a rather scathing opening monologue by English Standup Comedian, Ricky Gervais. The 7 minutes long monologue has since trended on social media and a sea of memes created from the facial reactions of the audience has flooded Twitter.
The red carpet, as is the norm was flooded with celebrities, styled and clothed in designer pieces posing to the paparazzi. We think that there have been better red carpet moments though, nothing exactly new and interesting hit the red carpet last night but still we have our favourites.

Award winning actor Reese Witherspoon looks like a sweet glass of piña colada in this gorgeous and elegant gown. She wore a custom made white dress from Roland Mouret. Crisp white, fitting, perfect hair and appropriate accessories.
- Billy Porter
American Broadway theatre performer, Billy who is popular for bringing the extra to the red carpet each time, each event has done it again. If you know Billy Porter, you’d know he has a huge flair for the dramatic not just in his career, also in fashion. Capes, trains, feathers, embroidery, colours, you name it. For the Golden Globes last night, he wore head to toe white suit with a flowing feathery train, accompanied by a black purse and jewellery. Fascinating isn’t it?

Make way, Queen B coming through!!!! Multiple award winning singer and actor Beyoncé slayed the Golden Globes in a custom made Schiaparelli gown. A black form fitting gown with gold puffy sleeves. You know Bey loves herself some elegant jewellery. She accessorised with a pair black sheer gloves. We loved that she wore her hair down too. Such a goddess!
- Winnie Harlow
We are ready to risk it all for American model Winnie in this LaQuan Smith creation because she ate this look up. She stood, leg out, fierce look placed on the paparazzi as they clicked away on their camera. We are not worthy!
- Sofia Vergara
One of the best paid actresses in the world, Sofia Vergara brought down the sun in a plum Dolce & Gabbana dress with a matching purse. The dress made extra “bad” with an outline of shimmery jewels. She chose chunky hoops for her ears and nothing for her neck.
- Scarlett Johansson
“Black Widow” star actor Scarlett stood out in a gorgeous red Vera Wang dress. The sweetheart neckline showed off her neck which was graced by diamond neckpiece and her wrists were sheathed with similar diamonds. Gorgeous!
- Priyanka Chopra
Indian actress, singer and former Miss World Priyanka looked stunning in a pink hand draped bustier gown from Cristina Ottaviano’s spring 2020 collection. The elegance is in the simplicity of this outfit. With the way her hair was styled plus choice of jewellery, you can definitely feel old Hollywood vibes.

Grammy award winning pop star Taylor Swift attended the Golden Globe in a super beautiful floral strap dress from Etro. The blue and yellow dress flowed to the floor and had a rather teasing opening at her core. She chose emerald drop earrings and her hairstyle was just perfect.
- Gugu Mbatha-Raw
English actor, Gugu who is popular for her role as Kelly in Black Mirror opted for a simple yet dazzling gold dress with a plunging neckline from Gucci. She barely accessorised, we guess it’s not to clash with the already bright dress. She paired her look with gorgeous curls and black heels.
- Cynthia Erivo
English actor and the lead star in “Harriet” for which she received a golden globe nomination Cynthia Erivo hit the Golden Globes sparkling in $5 million dollars worth of jewellery and a custom made black sequin dress by Thom Browne. She paired this rather expensive look with a pair of black heels. Stunning!
