Hollywood’s biggest night is here! The 97th Academy Awards (Oscars 2025), hosted by Conan O’Brien, is officially underway, bringing an unpredictable awards season to a close. The show opened with a heartfelt tribute to Los Angeles, honouring a city still recovering from the January wildfires, followed by a captivating performance from “Wicked” stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.

This year’s Oscars have been wild, with frontrunners shifting at every turn. Netflix’s “Emilia Pérez” led with 13 nominations, while A24’s “The Brutalist” and Universal’s “Wicked” followed closely with 10 nods each. However, the controversy surrounding “Emilia Pérez” star Karla Sofía Gascón cast a shadow over its chances.
