The 76th Annual Primetime Emmys (2024 EMMYs) have finally revealed the winners for the 2023-2024 TV season. This was the second Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony of the year, coming after the 75th Annual Primetime Emmys, which took place in January and saw the Television Academy celebrate the 2022-2023 TV season. Of course, the ceremonies were delayed by last year’s historic WGA and SAG strikes, but now the TV awards calendar is back on track.
Fx’s Shōgun made history at the 2024 Emmys, making a new record for a single season of TV with 18 wins total. This tally combines 14 wins from the 2024 Creative Arts Emmys and 4 wins from the 76th Primetime Emmys broadcast. FX’s historical drama set in feudal Japan became the first majority non-English language show to win Outstanding Drama Series in Emmy history.
Jean Smart was awarded the Emmy for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, now making her a 6x Emmy winner. The show won the grand prize of Outstanding Comedy Series as well.
