One year after the ceremony host Ariana DeBose confirmed Angela Bassett ‘did the thing, the 2024 BAFTA Awards unveiled its esteemed list of winners for outstanding films and performances in the United Kingdom.
The British Academy announced its winners on Sunday during a star-studded event, just ahead of the upcoming Oscars. Notable nominees like “Oppenheimer,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Anatomy of a Fall,” “The Holdovers,” and “Poor Things” all clinched nominations for Best Film and Best Picture at the Academy Awards. However, Christopher Nolan’s historical masterpiece “Oppenheimer” led the charge with seven wins, including Best Film, a title it’s poised to secure at the Oscars too.
Doctor Who’s David Tennant helmed the event as host, with performances by celebrities such as Hannah Waddingham and pop sensation Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who revived her Saltburn soundtrack hit, “Murder on the Dancefloor.”
