Bonang Matheba, the award-winning television presenter, radio personality, actress and style icon, has been announced as the host of the Miss South Africa 2023 pageant. This will be the third time that Matheba will host the prestigious event, after doing so in 2018 and 2019.

Matheba, who is also known as Queen B, has a long association with Miss South Africa and was part of the judging panel in 2014 that crowned Rolene Strauss. She was also the first international ambassador for the cosmetic brand Revlon, outside the US, and the first African to be given an E! News Special Africa on E!. Bonang Matheba is also the founder of House of BNG, a luxury beverage brand that produces sparkling wines and nectars.
Matheba said she was delighted to once again host the show, which will take place on 13 August at the SunBet Arena at Time Square in Pretoria.
In a statement made by Bonang Matheba reads… “The Miss South Africa pageant is one of the biggest television productions in the country, so I am very excited to be hosting the show for a third time this year. It is an institution in this country.”
Miss Sounth Africa Pageant
Matheba expressed that the Miss South Africa pageant was one of the biggest television productions in the country and an institution that she was honoured to be part of. She also said she loved that the pageant was airing on SABC this year, making it accessible to all people.
The top 12 finalists for Miss South Africa 2023 were revealed on 9 June, after a five-part reality TV series called Crown Chasers aired on SABC 3. The finalists are an impressive and diverse group of women who come from different backgrounds, professions and provinces. They will compete for the coveted crown and the chance to represent South Africa at Miss Universe or Miss World.
The current Miss South Africa is Ndavi Nokeri, who was crowned in 2022. She represented South Africa at Miss World and placed in the top 16.
