The official African premiere of Disney-Marvel’s most anticipated blockbuster; Wakanda Forever, kicked off Sunday 6th November with a press conference that is sure to be the talk of the town for days. The premiere was themed; “Afro-Futuristic: Show Them Who We Are”.

The filmmakers and cast from Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever celebrated the film’s upcoming release earlier last night at the film’s first official African premiere at Filmhouse Cinemas IMAX Lekki in Lagos.

Marvel Studios’ Black Panther remains the number one film in both East and West Africa and, in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, fans will welcome back some familiar faces whilst being introduced to brand new characters

Black Carpet, Fashion, and Conference 

Glazia hosted the black carpet at the premiere that saw Nollywood’s finest in attendance, some of whom include veteran actor Richard Mofe Damijo, and Wole Ojo, Rapper MI, and his wife, Eniola,  Ikechukwu, Adunni Ade, and more who had a chat with Glazia. Lupita Nyong’o

The stars of the premiering film were not missing in action either. Among who were the lead casts Lupita Nyongo who showed up in a simple sleek slit gown, Letitia Wright who wore a cut-out Valentino gown and Danai Gurira who pulled up like a Yoruba woman with a head tie and yellow patterned/ankara midi skirt.

Others including director Ryan Coogler, actor Winston Duke and Tenoch Huerta Mejía, along with local musicians featured in the film. Seni Saraki, Teni Zaccheaus, Bloody Civilian, P Priime, Cracker Mallo, Lady Donli, LMBSKN, Bolaji Williams, Olamiji “G-Lammy” Sodiya, Uzo Nwabudike and DBN Gogo joined dignitaries and guests at the black carpet premiere event.

Coogler who, prior to the conference, found out he was of Yoruba lineage said Nigeria holds cultural and historical significance to filmmakers, hence the reason for holding the conference in the country.

Winston Duke

IK Osakioduwa and Anele Mdoda hosted the colourful event which was organised by The Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) and Film One Nigeria who were licensed by Disney to host the African premiere and media conference of the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever movie.
