The Television Academy has released the Emmy nominations 2022 list ahead of the 74th Emmys, and this announcement is one to keep you at the edge of your seat.
The Emmys which will be held on September 13, has on its list, the best in American prime-time television programming from June 1, 2021, to May 31, 2022.
This year’s Emmy Awards is especially interesting as actresses from hit TV shows are nominated and the TV series are not left out as well. Also, some nominations are record-breaking like Zendaya, going down in history as the youngest actress to receive two Emmy nominations in Lead actress in a drama series category. See details here. In 2020, she was the youngest recipient of the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
In the same vein, Abbott Elementary is receiving its first Emmy nomination while icon actress Sandra Oh is being nominated for the twelfth time. Trevor Noah’s Daily Show received two nominations and Squid Game is nominated in a directing category. Ozark also landed a whopping 13 nominations on the Emmys roster.
While some bagged nominations, others were left out completely. Examples include new TV series such as the new Star Wars and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Also, Cobra Kai didn’t make the comedy series list; Blackish and This Is Us were left out as well. In addition, the cast of Stranger Things such as Millie Bobby Brown, Sadie Sink, Winona Ryder, and Finn Wolfard didn’t make the supporting lead actors or lead actors nominees list.
