It feels like the last Emmys just happened because they did—the 2023 ceremony, delayed by Hollywood strikes, took place in January. This year, the 2024 Emmys return to their usual September slot. The 2024 ceremony will be broadcast live on ABC on September 15, but no host has been announced yet.
Shogun leads this 2024 Emmys nominations, announced Wednesday morning, with an impressive 25 nods, including best drama series, setting several records in the process. Following closely are FX’s The Bear with 23 nominations, breaking the comedy series record, Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building with 21, HBO/Max’s True Detective: Night Country with 19, and Netflix’s The Crown with 18.
Netflix tops the charts with 107 nominations across 35 programs, trailed by FX with 93 nominations, HBO with 91, and Apple TV+ with 72. The Walt Disney Co., encompassing FX, ABC, Hulu, and Disney+, achieved a personal best with 183 Emmy nominations.
The 2024 Emmys (76th Emmys) will be broadcast live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 15, from 5-8 p.m. PT/8-11 p.m. ET on ABC. The Creative Arts ceremonies, where most of the awards are given, will take place on Saturday, Sept. 7, and Sunday, Sept. 8. While a host for the ABC ceremony has yet to be announced, Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon, and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay will executive produce the telecast for the second consecutive year.
To be eligible for the 2024 Emmys, shows had to air between June 1, 2023, and May 31, 2024.
