Television shows has been one of the greatest company people have had throughout the period of the mandatory lockdowns and social distancing caused by the corona virus outbreak . Netflix and other television networks, helped alleviate boredom, depression and sadness for many, with their countless soaps, movies and TV series.
It is common knowledge, or not, that some of the shows on these TV Networks are renewed after each season, giving them the go ahead to air the next season. However, not all series are that lucky. A lot of them get cancelled, and they cannot continue to air, either due to not good enough ratings, or some executive decisions. Yes, this is very heartbreaking, especially when some of your favourite shows are affected.
The cancellations already began, and they keep coming for the next season of television. The latest network to make this announcement is ABC, which gave the axe to some of its shows, some of which had multiple seasons. You can catch all the lasted cancellations below.
From CBS to Fox to USA Network, the cancellations of numerous TV series are slowly rolling out. Most of what you’ll see below are shows that didn’t make it past its premiere year; however, there are quite a few surprises amongst these cancellations, like Showtime ending Ray Donovan after seven seasons. Not included in this list below are shows coming to their natural conclusion. All the TV shows here were ended before their time.
Broke (CBS)
The comedy TV show premiered on April 2, 2020. It tells the story of a trust fund baby who is cut off by his dad, and is forced to move in with his wife’s estranged sister. The show has been canceled after 1 season.
Deputy (Fox)
The crime drama focused on Los Angeles Sheriff’s department. It premiered on January 2, 2020, and has met its unfortunate end after just one season.
Treadstone (USA)
This would be heartbreaking for a lot of people who love action packed series. The series is about The Treadstone project, having created super spy Jason Bourne, turns its attention on a new protocol to develop unstoppable super human assassins. The show which premiered on October 15, 2019 has been canceled after 1 season.
God Friended Me (CBS)
God friended Me is a comedy drama about an atheist whose life is turned upside down when he is friended by God on Facebook. The show premiered on September 30, 2018 and has been canceled after its second season.
Ray Donovan (Showtime)
Ray Donovan, a professional “fixer” for the rich and famous in Los Angeles, can make anyone’s problems disappear, except those created by his own family. The show premiered on June 18, 2013, but has been canceled after 7 seasons. If you haven’t seen it yet, it is not too late to get started.
Kids Say The Darndest Things (ABC)
The comedy show hosted by Tiffany Haddish has been cancelled after its first season. The show which premiered on October 6, 2019 is a classic TV show that spotlights kids talking about their perspective on things.
Carol’s Second Act (CBS)
This comedy show premiered on September 26, 2019, and tells a story of a retired teacher Carol Kennedy, who begins a second career as a doctor. The show has been canceled after 1 season.
Single Parents (ABC)
Single Parents is a comedy show that portrays a group of single parents who form their own support system as they raise their kids and struggle to start new relationships. The show premiered on September 26, 2018. Unfortunately, it has been canceled after its second season.
Tommy (CBS)
The drama series is about a former high-ranking NYPD officer who becomes the first female Chief of Police in Los Angeles. The show premiered on February 6, 2020, and has been canceled after 1 season.
The Magicians (Syfy)
The Magicians is a multi-genre TV show based upon Lev Grossman’s best selling books. The Magicians centers around Brakebills University, a secret institution specializing in magic. There, amidst an unorthodox education of spell-casting, a group of twenty-something friends soon discover that a magical fantasy world they read about as children is all too real, and possess grave danger to humanity. The Magicians premiered on December 16, 2015. It has however met its end after an intriguing 5 seasons.
I hope they don’t cancel any more of our favourite TV shows.
