The highly anticipated World PR Day Soirée & PR Power List Awards brought together trailblazers in public relations, media, business, and governance for an evening that was equal parts celebration and call to action.

This year’s soirée wasn’t just an event, it was a statement that PR is no longer an invisible force behind brands and nations, but a powerful engine driving connection, trust, and progress in today’s complex world.

The evening kicked off on a high note with a live keynote from the UK by Sarah Waddington CBE, CEO of the Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA), the world’s largest PR professional body. Her address was both timely and urgent. Speaking on the global challenges of political extremism, economic instability, and social fragmentation, she emphasized the growing responsibility of PR professionals to bridge divides.

“The role of all of us as a PR community,” she stated, “is to engage with parties and broker understanding and agreement between discordant parties… Our vision at the PRCA is to lead the global evolution of public relations through innovation, excellence, and the highest ethical standards.”

Building on that momentum, Dr. Ike Neliaku, President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), delivered a passionate address celebrating Nigeria’s leadership in birthing World PR Day, an initiative that has now become a global fixture.

“Today, we’re celebrating 50 individuals whose work in PR is not just impactful locally, but also recognized across the diaspora,” he noted. “It’s a strong signal that Nigeria is advancing the practice of PR in meaningful ways.”

For the first time, a panel of independent jurors selected the standout honoree in each category, making this year’s recognition even more prestigious.

The World PR Day soirée wasn’t just a stage for recognition, it was a 360-degree experience. Guests enjoyed dynamic conversations and creative showcases, including an exclusive keynote fireside session with Ruth Kadiri, actor, producer, and YouTube’s No. 1 Nollywood filmmaker, in conversation with Adetutu Laditan, Creative Director of Woof Studios.

The event also featured two fireside chats, immersive brand activations, and the official launch of the 2025 PR Power List special issue by Glazia Magazine, starring Ezinne Akudo, founder of NKASSI Living, podcaster, and 39th Miss Nigeria, on the cover.

From insightful dialogue to curated dining and celebratory music, every detail reinforced the theme: PR professionals deserve to be seen, celebrated, and elevated.

Since its inception in 2022, the PR Power List has grown into a beacon of visibility and appreciation for professionals who often work behind the scenes. This year’s event was a testament to that mission, made possible by strategic partnerships and generous sponsors, including The Guardian Nigeria, Edelman, Dentsu Agyle, PRCA, ICCO, and Alliance Française Lagos.

“Public relations is often a thankless job,” shared Omawumi Ogbe, Managing Partner at GLG Communications and creator of the PR Power List. “But we know how crucial it is. That’s why we created this platform, to shine a light on the professionals who make brands and reputations soar.”

With each edition, GLG Communications continues to raise the bar for recognition, professionalism, and community within the PR industry, not just in Nigeria, but globally.

The 2025 World PR Day Soirée & PR Power List Awards wasn’t just an event, it was a moment of validation and vision for an industry that thrives on shaping perception. And if this year’s edition is anything to go by, the future of PR is bold, brilliant, and unmistakably Nigerian.
