About the movie “The Ogun”
In the movie, Mackie stars as a man called Xavier Rhodes, who travels to Nigeria with his teenage daughter in order to seek a cure for a rare genetic illness that she has inherited from him. But while they are in the African country, Rhodes’ daughter is kidnapped leading him to violently run amok through the criminal underworld. Rhodes must rescue his daughter before it’s too late, and in his mission, he must employ his powerful abilities to their very limit. Currently, there is no director attached to the film, but Mandalay Pictures’ Jason Michael Berman has been confirmed to produce alongside Mackie.
Anthony Mackie will produce and lead Netflix’s action-thriller The Ogun. Mackie has partnered with his IO collaborator Jason Berman for the movie. Berman and Mackie’s association with Netflix dates back to 2019 when they co-produced the post-apocalyptic sci-fi film IO for the streamer.
Even though their first collaboration didn’t go so well, as regards critical response, we hope this new project does delivers better, seeing that it already has a catchy lay out. We also eagerly waiting if he’ll be adding any Nigerian cast to the film.
