In continuation of Glazia Black history Month campaign, we are reminded that; not all heroes wear capes, some wear lab coats and carry stethoscopes or invent things, as that is the case today. Our  honouree of the day is Dr. Seyi Oyesola – Co-inventor of CompactOR or hospital in a box.

“There are no prices offered to those that point out the problems”

Seyi Oyesola is a Nigerian doctor, who co-invented “hospital in a box”. Fed up with hospitals that were always short in supplies and prone to outages, Dr. Oyesola co-invented hospital in a box, a mini hospital run with solar energy or off grid and completely mobile.

Dr. Oyesola obtained his basic medical qualification at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos in 1986, before going to the United Kingdom and the United States to complete post-graduate training in anesthesia. He was appointed as consultant in anesthesia and critical care in the UK National Health Service (NHS) in 1999.

He was also a foundation instructor and honorary senior lecturer at the medical simulation center at the Imperial College School of Medicine in London. Dr Oyesola returned to Nigeria from the UK in 2015 to found Anesthesia and Critical Care (A3C).
