The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards arrived with plenty of star power and left television with a new collection of history-makers. The Pitt held on to its drama crown for a second consecutive year, while Apple TV’s Widow’s Bay emerged as the night’s comedy powerhouse. Matthew Rhys achieved a rare acting feat, Jean Smart tied the all-time Emmy record for performers, and Rhea Seehorn finally claimed the recognition that had eluded her after years of acclaimed work.
Yet amid the celebrations, one aspect of the night was impossible to overlook. While the Emmys did recognise talent of colour in other categories — including Hiro Murai’s historic directing win — not a single actor of colour won in the 12 lead and supporting acting categories. That is an especially striking outcome at a time when Hollywood continues to grapple with questions of representation. It does not erase the achievements of the night’s winners, but it does leave an uncomfortable question hanging over the ceremony: are we really moving forward if meaningful representation still disappears when the final trophies are handed out?
For now, the winners have their moment. From television’s biggest series to its standout performances, here is the complete list of those who took home Emmy gold in 2026.
